Comprehensive Curriculum & Modules
1,300 Instructional Hours covering all aspects of clinical healthcare administrationAnatomy of body systems, medical prefixes, suffixes, and root terms. Diagnostic terminology, laboratory testing vocabulary, pharmacology classifications, and surgical terminology.
BC Medical Services Plan (MSP) fee schedules, diagnostic codes (ICD-9/ICD-10), WorkSafeBC claims, ICBC accident reporting, private insurance billing, reciprocal agreements, and Teleplan transmissions.
Hands-on computer laboratory training using leading Canadian EMR suites. Patient demographic chart entry, doctor appointment scheduling, lab test retrieval, electronic prescription filing, and digital archiving.
Infection control in the outpatient clinic, measuring patient vitals (blood pressure, temperature, pulse), exam room preparation, assisting physicians with minor procedures, and medical privacy compliance (PIPA & FOIPPA).
Transcribing physician dictations, operative reports, hospital discharge summaries, clinical consultation letters, and maintaining patient confidentiality protocols.
Four weeks of full-time, supervised clinical placement in an active medical clinic, hospital department, or specialist practice in British Columbia. Direct transition to employment.
160-Hour Supervised Clinical Practicum
Edenbrook College coordinates your clinical placement in an accredited BC medical setting. You work side-by-side with physicians, medical office assistants, and nursing staff—building verified Canadian healthcare experience and professional references.
Admission Criteria
- Standard Admission: Grade 12 high school graduation or equivalent Canadian diploma.
- Mature Student Admission: Minimum 19 years of age prior to program commencement and passing score on the Edenbrook Entrance Examination.
- Language Requirement: English 12 (minimum C+ grade) or Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) Level 7 / IELTS Academic 6.0.
- Clearances: Clean Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector Screening) prior to clinical practicum placement.
