Job Overview:
Edenbrook College is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Medical Office Administrator Program Instructor to train students in healthcare administration, medical office procedures, and patient management. The ideal candidate will have experience in medical office operations, billing, records management, and healthcare regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide instruction on medical office administration, electronic health records (EHR), medical billing, scheduling, and office management.
- Teach students medical terminology, healthcare ethics, patient confidentiality (HIPAA), and insurance processing.
- Train students in customer service, patient communication, and professional workplace etiquette in a medical setting.
- Ensure compliance with government and PTIRU admission requirements, maintaining accurate student documentation.
- Evaluate student progress through written exams, assignments, and practical case studies.
- Guide students in medical software usage, including billing systems and appointment scheduling tools.
- Prepare students for certification exams and job placement in medical offices, hospitals, and healthcare facilities.
- Maintain accurate student records, including attendance, grading, and academic performance tracking.
- Stay updated on healthcare regulations, privacy laws, and administrative best practices to ensure curriculum relevance.
- Support students with career counseling, resume building, and job interview preparation.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Diploma or Certification in Medical Office Administration, Healthcare Management, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working in a medical office, clinic, hospital, or healthcare administration role.
- Teaching or training experience in medical office procedures (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of healthcare documentation, patient record management, and medical billing codes.
- Familiarity with Canadian healthcare regulations, insurance policies, and patient confidentiality standards.
- Knowledge of PTIRU admission compliance and documentation requirements.
- Excellent communication, organization, and mentorship skills.
- Commitment to student success, professional ethics, and ongoing education.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Medisoft, Accuro, or Epic.
- Certification in medical billing and coding (an asset).
- Ability to integrate real-world case studies and practical training into lessons.
- Familiarity with medical transcription, insurance claims processing, and front-desk operations.
